What is Test & Tag training?

Test & Tag training teaches you how to inspect, test, and label electrical appliances to ensure they meet Australian safety standards (AS/NZS 3760). You’ll learn both theory and hands-on techniques using Portable Appliance Testers (PAT) to identify electrical faults, perform safety checks, and apply compliant tags.

Do I need to be an electrician to do this course?

No you do not. In fact the courses are designed for people with no electrical experience. That said, we also train a number of people with an electrical background and they take just as much from the course as someone with no experience at all.

Is this a nationally recognised qualification?

The Nationally Accredited Test Tag Course is aligned to standard AS/NZS 3760, meaning our Test & Tag Course is Nationally Recognised across all Australian States and Territories. We also offer 'standard' courses for those not looking for their national accreditation, however wanting a general understanding of test and tag and to meet minimum requirements.
Test Tag Courses is a Registered Training Organisation, and you can be assured our courses meet Australian Standards.

How long does the course take?

The Test and Tag course generally runs for a full day. If you are doing the Nationally Recognised Course there is also a Workplace Health and Safety online module that takes approx. 2-3 hours. This is a requirement for all Nationally Recognised Test and Tag Courses, The Plug Top courses, and Three Phase courses each run for approx 4 hours.

What equipment will I learn to use?

You will be taught how to use Portable Appliance Testers, including the required accessories to successfully test electrical appliances, leads, power boards and RCD's.

Can I buy appliance testers, tags and other testing accessories from you?

Yes. We offer special 'Course Packages' to anyone who does a course with us. We also sell Test and Tag supplies direct to the general public.
